Slow down and enjoy

How often do you focus on what you are doing and connect with the moment, connect with yourself? Slow down and enjoy.

Research keeps showing a huge disconnection of us human beings with our body which often leads to a feeling of imbalance and stress, as we keep running and rushing through the day, ticking of self-made to-do-lists, setting huge goals, aim for growth instead of pleasure, constantly comparing to others, prioritising everything else over relaxation and self-care.

A very good friend said to me the other day: “Did you see how people rushed out of the metro as soon as we got to the station? There were like 5 people literally running off. How crazy is that?”

Stop running and take care of yourself
This is your reminder to stop running. Slow down and breathe. Take a break. Look after yourself. You probably have someone in your life to take care of, who needs you, as well as many objectives and to-do’s in different areas of your life. But if you are always low on energy, you will never enjoy any of it. You can read more in this post: https://littlehealthyhabits.com/take-care-of-your-personal-battery/

Slow down during your “day to day activities”
Wake up a a few minutes earlier to have more time. Get dressed slower, eat breakfast slower, leave the house slower. Cook slower, eat slower, wash up your dishes slower. Take a bit more time for that chat with your colleague, friend, family. Walk slower to your car or public transport. Do your grocery shopping slower. Enjoy the ordinary things. Enjoy your days off, don’t make plans, see what happens. You don’t always have to be super efficient and productive. Enjoy your life.

Enjoy spring, the season to blossom
Spring has just started and it is inviting us to feel and to blossom. My recommendation for you is to take a slow walk in nature: Connect to your surroundings, smell the flowers, plants, air, the natural perfume that this special time brings. Enjoy the beauty around you. Connect to your breath, to your being, to your true self.

From my personal experience: The more you connect with yourself, the more you will feel what you need and give yourself that space. The more energy you will have again, for all the things that are so important to you. The more you connect, the more it all flows.

Happy spring time!

Thank you so much for sharing those words with us. I feel totally identified and yes, it is again an important reminder. I feel that when I slow down I be more aware and see and experience things that bring me joy. Without slowing down, I would have missed out.

Thank you so much, Vero, for your input. I love it how you intentionally focus on slowing down and that you are aware of the difference between "auto-pilot" (that feeling when we "miss out") and truly experiencing.
